Copenhagen – the capital city of the kingdom of Denmark since 1417 – is a city in which the modern developments of the 20th century, far from spoiling the atmosphere of history and old-world charm, have been blended with the older buildings and monuments to from a thriving and harmonious environment.
On this tour which is an ideal introduction to the city, you will pass the main highlights within Copenhagen including the Town Hall Square, Tivoli Gardens, the New Carlsberg Glyptoteque, the National Museum, the Christiansborg Castle – home of the Danish parliament (photo stop), the old Stock Exchange and the residence of the Royal Family – Amalienborg Palace and the beautiful park, Amaliehaven, at the seafront (stop).
After completing the tour of Copenhagen drive cross the bridge and over the to island of Amager. At the very end of the island is the beautiful little village called Dragør located. In the early sixteenth century, King Christian II invited a group of farmers from the Netherlands - at the time, a more agriculturally advanced nation than Denmark - to settle here to produce food for the royal household. Twenty-four families arrived, and they and their descendants stayed for three centuries, continuing to live in Dragør area and leaving only for their weekly trips to the Amagertorv market in downtown Copenhagen - amongst their many other achievements they were responsible for introducing the carrot to Denmark. You still find many Dutch names on the doors in Dragør.
Dragør is a cozy village dominated by its characteristic yellow painted house, red roofs and cobblestone streets and a charming harbour front. Here you stroll in the narrow and charming streets and see and hear about the history of this beautiful small village.

 A special tour that will introduce you to the gastronomic Copenhagen with its products and specialties.
The tour will start from the conference hotel by bus and take you to the well known Ida Davidsen’s restaurant you will be able to check out the long list of famous Danish open sandwiches which
 dates back to 1888. Only a couple more minutes walk and you will pass by one of the oldest wine stores in the city that has been in the location for almost 125 years now. Your adventure continues through charming passages and streets to Kransekagehuset home of the delicious Summerbird chocolate and pastry. Here you will try a couple of butter cookies before heading to the Butchers shop to taste a small “frikadelle” – a Danish meatball.
You will pass by Conditori La Glace which opened its doors in 1870 and since then has kept the same location. One of Peter Beier chocolate shops is located next to La Glace.
Your last stop will be the Department Store Magasin located right across the King’s New Square. The basement of Magasin is the house of an upscale delicatessen supermarket where you can find a little bit of everything. They have bakery, fruits and vegetables, exotic products, wine shop, chocolate and ice cream, magazine booth and even a shoe maker. Your guide will buy a drink that you can enjoy while walking around in this basement full of life!!
